Good evening everyone,
I am happy I randomly stumbled upon this community. One question I had was does anyone know the firm cut-off dates for each term's application? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the UWO page. I know the sooner the better but I like concrete details =P

|uwogirl13||06:47 pm - Application for September 2013!|
I'm currently working on my application for the September 2013 section, and I'll admit, I'm having some difficulty. There was a section on a 'self-declared' grade average, so I just put down my cumulative average from last year (which was above 70, but not that great) and left it at that, since I don't know my marks for this semester yet.
There was also a section on employment history/professional background. This confused me, so I listed most of the jobs I've had that I thought could potentially pertain to the application - like I've worked at a couple of grocery stores as a supervisor, so I put that down, because I thought it demonstrated leadership skills. Can anyone shed some light on this section?
Right now, I'm having some difficulty with the academic referee section. I already got one professor to say he'd do it for me, as well as the head librarian at the library I work at, but it wants addresses - does it mean the addresses of where they work? I'd think it'd be strange if it was home address. Again, could use some help here.
Also, am I applying too late? Everyone says the sooner the better.
Thanks for all your help! I'm so glad I found this little community.

Just wanted to say a friendly hello to everyone. How is your first semester going? Only a few more months now till my partner, cats and I are 'chilling' in London! Haven't even needed to put socks on for 20 months now, so snow will be interesting. Looking forward to meeting some of you in January.

|Jessica Wilkie-Facchin||07:33 pm - Co-Op Question!|
If anyone who has already been through the program sees this, I have a quick question:
How likely am I to find a co-op in London? My living situation isn't particularly conducive to being away for 4 to 8 months and I'd like to be able to stay in town if possible. Will I have any luck?

I'm starting at Western in September and am hoping to do a co-op in the winter semester, preferably at home in Newfoundland. I'm wondering how likely it is that I'll find a placement here? I know that there is often a placement offered at the Memorial University Library in the fall, but I don't think that they take students in the winter. Could you more experienced folk maybe talk about some placements you've done and the experiences you had?
Also: Hi! Any future classmates want to introduce yourselves?

|JessicaWilkie||04:30 pm - MLIS Application advice|
I'm currently working on my application for the MLIS program in September 2012. I am just having a little trouble with the statement of interest and I was hoping for a little bit of advice.
The thing that is troubling me the most is what the tone of the statement should be. Should it be more of a formal tone or can it be a little bit informal? I have tried to find some advice online about this, but every page I've found contradicts the last.
I have wanted to take the MLIS program for a few years now and I think I'm stressing out about it more than is necessary.
Any advice would be really appreciated!

|oreanne||08:10 pm - Application Question|
I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I have all of my things together and I actually wanted to start applying for the September 2012 program now, but I want the grades in my current semester to be included in my consideration for acceptance. Will they wait until my final grades come in before they decide to accept/ reject my application? Or are they going to look at whatever I have right now?
I'm thinking I should wait a little longer to apply, but I don't want to wait too long since they're accepting applications for September 2012 right now, does anyone have any advice?
